Thermoformed parts which are manufactured by twin-sheet process are characterized by extremely high stability, which makes this technology ideally suitable for the production of load carriers. Contrary to single-sheet thermoforming not only one sheet but two sheets of plastic are being thermoformed simultaneously. Which is why thermoformed parts can have different shapes and colours on each side and be enormously rigid.

In the twin sheet process two firmly clamped plastic sheets are heated on both sides in separate ovens. The panels are then moulded one after another by evacuating the air between the mould and the hot plastic sheet. Subsequently, the warm thermoformed parts are welded firmly together using pressure. A flow of compressed air is then used to release the finished twin-sheet part from the mould.

Polypropylene structured core panels are made of three components which are firmly welded together. Their unique panel structure results from combining two smooth cover layers with a dimpled middle layer and differs significantly from conventional twin-wall sheets in this respect.

The dimples of the middle layer expand to both sides and are low in overall height, thus achieving an extremely high compressive strength. The low height also ensures a uniform thickness distribution of the dimple tops, thus enabling a firm welding of the middle layer to the top layers.

The interaction of the perfectly matched components results in the extraordinary stability and bending strength of the structured core panels in all directions. The air gaps created by the symmetric dimple pattern ensures the particular light weight of the structured core panels, giving them a virtually unlimited range of applications.
